Happy Year of the Ox

This year, Chinese New Year was on Monday, January 26th. Chinese New Year is celebrated as the symbol of spring's celebration. In fact, in China, the Chinese New Year is still called the Spring festival. It is celebrated after the fall harvest and before the spring planting season. The date of the Chinese New Year is always changing and is dependant on the Chinese calendar.

This is the The Year of the Ox. "The Ox symbolizes prosperity through fortitude and hard work. Those born under the influence of the Ox are fortunate to be stable and persevering. The typical Ox is a tolerant person with strong character. Not many people could equal the resolution and fearlessness that the Ox exhibits when deciding to accomplish a task. Ox people work hard without complaints at work or at home. They know that they will succeed through hard work and sustained efforts, and do not believe in get-rich-quick schemes."
Not only did Wren get to celebrate Chinese New Year with the other families from the FCC group, but her sweet preschool teacher, Mrs. Cindy, also had a little special party in celebration of the holiday!

For our family celebration, we had Chinese dinner at home. Jason stopped and picked up Chinese takeout and Lee Anne set the table with all the Chinese plates. It was a fun night and Wren really enjoyed it.

Wren always likes the entertainment.

Photos by Megan

My friend Megan started her own photography business and she took some pictures of Wren. I thought they turned out great. Megan is super easy to work with too!

Lee Anne turns 38

I don't like birthdays too much anymore. Can't I just stay somewhere between 28 and 34? But Wren really loves the cake and the candles so I celebrated anyway. :-D
