Today we took a trip into Milan to do a little shopping and to have a tasty Indian meal. While we were there, sweet Daddy Jason spied this cute little ladybug scooter that he decided to bring home for his little Wren.

Castiglione Olona
Castiglione Olona is a medieval village about 15 minutes from our house. On the first Sunday of each month, the town has a small antiques market so we went over in the afternoon to take a look around. We also visited one of the local churches which was built in the early 1400's.

Sacra di San Michele
On Saturday, we took a day trip to Sacro di San Michele. It is a Benedictine monastery that was begun in the late 900's and lasted until 1622. It was one of the most important Benedictine monasteries during medieval times.
"For those who enjoyed Umberto Eco’s The Name of the Rose it is the place that inspired the novel and then the film which starred Sean Connery. The Sacra di San Michele, amongst the most well-known Benedictine abbeys, is today considered one of the most important examples of Romanesque architecture in Europe. In order to reach the so-called Doorway of the Zodiac, one has to climb 243 steps, but once at the top, the view is unique as the Alps embrace the valley offering a breathtaking spectacle of natural beauty."

Not an Italy Post
This one isn't an Italy post. Spring has sprung in Huntsville, AL and my mom sent me pictures to show me how pretty everything is at home. These are pictures of my parents' (used to be my granparents') home. Here in Varese Spring (or Primavera in Italian) is about a month behind.
